Edgewood Habitat Restoration planning meeting, 12/1/04


- Kiosk flier bins
	- Current bin space is too limited
	- Look into new bins with more slots?
		- Ask MROSD where they got theirs (start with Cindy Roessler?)
		- Possible a scout project or the like?
		- Possibly funded via grant?
	- Discuss with Ricardo to see if he has ideas?

- Portable worksite sign
	- Would like sign to display at worksites for passers by
	- Should have/be:
		- Rugged and durable
		- Wind and rain resistant
		- Light weight and compact (should fit in tool box)
		- 11x17 paper sheet display (for easy printing and replacement)
		- Place for display of fliers/cards for people to take
		- Possibly space for session specific info (target weed, etc)?
	- Bring design ideas to next meeting
		- Angela might mock something up?
		- Perhaps laminated signs?
		- Maybe Stu Simpson would be interested in working on this?
		- Possibly funded via grant?
	- Would also like signage to leave at kiosk meeting point
		- Announce session to public
		- Indicate work site for late comers
		- Just hang from hook on leg of kiosk?

- Possibly have semi-regular Saturday sessions in Spring?
	- More accessible to public
		- Make more attractive by spending more time on wildflowers too?
	- Semi-regular (1/month) is more predictable, easier for drop in volunteers
	- Coordinate with docent walks (contact Carolyn Strange)
		- Make sure walks/work sites coincide
		- Give small talk to docent groups about weeding program
	- Have different leader for each session (to reduce burden on any one leader)
	- Maybe have one session coordinated with Friends of Cordilleras Crk?
	- Maybe have celebration at last session (food, drinks, etc)?
	- Maybe provide motorized transport to work sites?
	- Reached consensus to definitely do this for this coming spring
		- 3rd Sat of each month
		- 3/19 thru 7/16
	- As usual, bad weather would cancel

- Parks & Recreation Foundation Grant
	- What might we be able to use grant $$$ for?
		- Toolbox & tools for Day Camp area
		- Public outreach
		- Kiosk bins
		- Work site signs
	- Pull together proposal by early Jan for review at 1/13 FoE mtg
	- Keep Ricardo informed on our ideas and get feedback

- Storage at Day Camp
	- Reached consensus that we want this
	- Possibly use same space that docent program uses?
	- Get separate, dedicated toolbox? Funded via grant?

- Weeding session guidelines & session report forms?
	- It was agreed that we should formalize and print out session guidelines
	- It was agreed that we should develop a session report form

- Planning for future meetings
	- Next meeting should be early January, prior to 1/13 FoE mtg

	- Think about exotics removal and restoration planning wrt visitor center
	- Expand to include replanting, propagation of natives, etc
		- Maybe farm out propagation (like Friends of Cordilleras Crk)?
	- Experimental test plots?
		- Total removal of non-natives?
